Dear Valued Donors,
I hope this message finds you well. As we wrap up another quarter, I’m excited to share some of the developments at Kids Club. Your continued support has made these milestones possible, and we’re deeply grateful.
Growth and Expansion
When we first began, Kids Club supported only a handful of children. Today, we are able to provide a nurturing environment for a lot of children from various backgrounds, including 8 children with special needs. Our space has become a safe haven where they can learn, play, and grow, and this expansion would not have been possible without your generosity.
Focus on Learning: Reading and Writing
Our primary focus remains on teaching fundamental skills like reading and writing. This includes individualized morning tutorials where we guide children through the basics of the alphabet, counting, and communication. For our special needs students, this often involves adaptive methods and lots of one-on-one time to ensure each child progresses at their own pace.
After-School Activities for Holistic Growth
We offer a range of after-school activities for children ages 8 to 12 every afternoon. Recently, two young adults joined our group. After their classroom routine and tutorials, they engage in larger group activities, contributing by making jewelry for our Eco Shop fundraiser, attending music and rhythm classes, and learning to play the ukulele. Additionally, they participate in our life skills workshops, which cover essential tasks like household chores, personal hygiene, and cooking. Initially, they struggled to fit in and even avoided activities at times, but with the help of other children, they’ve grown more comfortable. Seeing them bond with their peers and build confidence has been heartwarming.
Heartfelt Stories
Xean is a bright 4-year-old who attends our tutorial class every morning, Monday through Friday. He loves running and playing with toys, often by himself. Since joining Kids Club, Xean has made tremendous progress. He has learned to identify some letters of the alphabet, can count from 1 to 10, and recognizes various colors. Socializing was a challenge for him initially, but he now interacts more comfortably with other children and listens to his teacher. His speech has also improved—he can now speak a few words, which is a big step forward.
Chloe, at 5 years old, has also shown remarkable development. She can now write her name independently and recognizes letters from A to Z, as well as numbers up to 20. Chloe used to be shy and would often hide under the table when volunteers were around. Now, she engages with other children and volunteers with ease. She has a passion for art, especially painting and drawing, and she consistently gives her best effort. Watching her grow and blossom has been incredibly rewarding for all of us.
Expanding Community Awareness
Kids Club has been working hard to spread awareness in the community regarding children with special needs. While we strive to provide a safe and accepting environment at Kids Club, our students still face daily bullying and exclusion in the broader community. To combat this, we have developed educational leaflets for guardians of enrolled children, sharing them during tutorials and group activities. We’re also using our social media platforms to educate and promote understanding and acceptance, with the hope of creating a more inclusive community for all children.
Financial Needs and Call for Support
Running Kids Club and providing these services free of charge to families in need is made possible through donations. However, we are currently facing financial challenges that put our mission at risk. To continue providing quality education, emotional support, and specialized activities for our students, we need consistent funding.
Your ongoing support is invaluable to us, but we are always seeking additional partners to help sustain our efforts. If you or someone you know would be interested in supporting Kids Club as a monthly sponsor, please reach out or spread the word. With your help, we can ensure that Kids Club continues to be a place where every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
Thank you for being an essential part of our journey. Together, we’re making a real difference in the lives of these children.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Sanne Sevig
