Pain

By Dr. Bunjongsek Supsopha | Project Leader

Chok has undergone hernia surgery for 5 times

Hernia symptoms and ongoing asthma treatment

Since his lungs have grown unequally since birth, “Chok” has had shortness of breath, fatigue, difficulty breathing, poor health and is unable to run and play like other children. Chok’s grandmother therefore has to take care of him and administer asthma medication when he has an attack, tenses, or convulsions.

Unfortunately, when Choke was two months old, his grandmother noticed that he had bloating, swelling, vomiting, and a fever. So she borrowed money from a neighbor to rent a car and take her grandson to see a doctor at hospital where was more than 120 kilometers away from home. They found out from an ultrasound that Choke had a hernia and needed immediate surgery.

The grandmother, is selling fish to earn money to support her grandson, because Chok’s parents separated a long time ago, had to take her grandson to undergo surgery to rearrange his intestines time and time again. The latest surgery was the fifth time, Chok had a hernia operation and had one of his testicles removed. “I feel so sorry for my grandson. I don’t know what to do next. Right now, I have a lot of knee pain from an accident where I slipped and fell next to a fish pond. I can’t go out to sell things at the market. I don’t know who to borrow money to take my grandson to see the doctor. The doctor who treated me said that I have to keep a close eye on Chok because I don’t know if his intestines will move and press on another important part of his body. I have to wait and see how the hernia operation goes and I have to take him to the hospital to get asthma medication every 2 months.

As the grandmother and grandson are at a loss, help is essential for Chok to receive continuous treatment and follow-up and get through the most difficult time. Help for Chok is supporting travel expenses , going to the doctor once a month, cleaning supplies such as toothbrush , toothpaste, powder, soap, household cleaning supplies , floor cleaner.washing powder, dishwashing liquid, milk supplements, calcium supplements, rice, food, dry food, food sources at home, such as oyster mushroom spawns and plant seedsand skill accessoriessuch as coloring books and color sets.
