Child abuse and neglect remain serious but underreported challenges in many schools across Niger State. Teachers interact with children every day, yet many lack the knowledge and confidence to recognize warning signs or respond appropriately. Without effective safeguarding systems, vulnerable children may continue to suffer in silence, leading to lasting physical, emotional, and educational consequences.
Elite Star Foundation will deliver comprehensive child protection training for 200 teachers covering child rights, safeguarding principles, abuse prevention, early identification, reporting procedures, and referral pathways. Participants will receive practical resource materials and support to establish school child protection committees, helping create strong safeguarding systems that protect children every day.
Two hundred trained teachers will help protect thousands of children throughout their careers by identifying risks early, preventing abuse, and promoting safer school environments. Stronger safeguarding systems will improve children's wellbeing, increase trust between schools and communities, and encourage timely reporting of abuse. The model can be expanded to more schools, strengthening child protection across Niger State and beyond.
