Much of this reporting period was focused on planning for and attendance of the Director, Ruth Konchallah, at the meeting of the Committee on the Status of Women, which was held in New York in March. This annual event by the United Nations brings together governments, non-governmental groups, and experts to focus on issues relating to woman and girls globally.
Ruth participated in meetings with other non-governmental organizations working on issues similar to those being addressed by Cherish Others, including empowerment of girls, preventing FGM and early marriage, and promoting education of girls. Ruth’s participation enabled her to share lessons learned and best practices with organizations doing similar work, and substantially expanded Cherish Others’ network of contacts.
Ruth is following up to identify potential opportunities to partner with like-minded organizations. There may also be possibilities to submit proposals for donor funding in order to complement the support which is provided by donations through GlobalGiving.
