During this reporting period, Cherish Others has continued its efforts to assist girls affected by gender-related violence, and to engage with boys and young men both to educate them against gender-related violence, and to encourage them to become productive members of their communities who will be supportive of girls and young women.
With our support, one of the girls we have been helping graduated from a cosmetology vocational training school. The young woman was gravely affected by gender-related violence, so severe that it caused a serious facial scar. She will now be able to lead a productive life. In addition, Cherish Others has continued to support a young man in the community to continue his education at a vocational training institute.
Along with these activities, Cherish Others has continued to engage with the Transmara community to emphasize the importance of not practicing FGM, and to give both young girls and boys educational opportunities.
We are pleased that, as a result of our continuing activities, the rate of FGM is gradually being reduced, although the practice is unfortunately still too prevalent.
As always, we deeply appreciate the continuing support of our donors.
