By Ruth Konchellah | Director of Cherish Others Organization Kenyak
Cherish Others put together a ceremony to recognize many of the successful youth who have continued their education and have completed secondary school. We sponsored some of these students, and we are continuing to support others. Our ceremony celebrated their accomplishments. We recognized both girls and boys, since encouraging positive and respectful relations between girls and boys is important to the community.
In addition, Cherish Others sponsored a community gathering to thank all those families, elders, teachers, and local leaders who have supported our efforts. Their engagement remains crucial to continuing to eliminate the practice of FGM and to promoting the empowerment of girls. This initiative reflects our community-based approach.
