Dear Esteemed Patrons,

Greetings to you from Health Education Adoption Rehabilitation Development Society (HEARDS) - India!

It gives us immense pleasure and happiness to submit the progress report in front of you all.  The following are the progress happened during this quarter which I am submitting it for your kind perusal.

DIFFERENT EXPOSURES MADE IN THE CENTRE

HEARDS conducts various exposures energetically with varieties of activities so that children engaged in the rehabilitation centers activities may not drop the course in between. This year the main focus was drawn through group discussion, learning safety rules, reading dailies, pronunciation, calligraphy and drawing. The new mechanism adapted in the center was to inculcate both hard and soft skills among the working children. For that children were divided into small groups and a name was given to them to develop their team spirit. A leader was selected to guide the groups. This paved the way for developing leadership skills among the children.  Through the group discussion held during the camp made the children develop inter personal skills among them.  Children were made to recite poems and space was given for solo singing. Narrating stories made them enthusiastic and zealous in taking part actively in the center.

MAINSTREAMING OF CHILDREN INTO THE GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS

During the month of May, 2016, teachers from HEARDS rehabilitation centers have tremendously organized and conducted Annual Examination by framing questions of their own and made them qualify to join higher classes as per their age. As the school academic year has started by mid of June, the process of rejoining them to Government schools has taken one month because of the admission numbers and other formalities regarding the admission. During the current year we were able to mainstream 60 children into the Government schools successfully.

UNIFORM DISTRIBUTION

To keep us the uniformity and standard and to maintain the regulations the children were provided with two set of uniforms for the children.  They were provided uniforms for their daily wear in school. These valuable gestures by DONORS is a way of making these deprived children that they are also important and have the right of being happy like other normal children.

CONCLUSION AND GRATITUDE

It is not merely a project, it is indeed an experience with poor and working children, in fact a transformation process initiated in the lives of the marginalized children in the slums of Chittoor. The initiative need to continue some more time until it has established a footing of its own. The project team is committed to sustain the good work. The beneficiary children and their parents are very grateful for the generosity and kind help of PATRONS. With a deep sense of gratitude and hope for a future of working children this progress report is submitted.

Thanking you all,

With best wishes and fond regards,
