New Year Celebration at HEARDS
New Year Celebration at HEARDS

Dear Esteemed Donors,

Greetings to you from Health Education Adoption Rehabilitation Development Society (HEARDS) - India!

Awareness on COVID-19 BY GOVERNMENT HEALTH DEPARTMENT:

In Chittoor CORONA Positive cases have surged tremendously.  Still, we are taking all the necessary precautions like wearing masks, social distancing, and usage of sanitization.  Recently the Government Health Department officials have conducted an awareness program in our rehabilitation center.  I am enclosing the picture for the same.

New Year Celebration:

Previously the children were in lockdown and there was no sort of relief and therefore we decided to celebrate New Year eve in order to fill some happiness among these children.  It has gone with the distribution of chocolates, biscuits, and cakes.  Along with this, the children had some dance programs and speeches regarding their New Year resolution.

Poverty and Patriarchy

We are keeping track of girl children who are orphans and semi-orphan and it has become clearer that the existing barriers to girl's education - poverty and patriarchy - have been amplified due to Coronavirus and lockdown.  Children, especially girls are facing insurmountable challenges in urban slums and rural villages.  Jobs have been lost, work is scarce, villages have seen an influx of migrant workers, food and rations are limited.  Regarding patriarchy, people are regressing to the old gendered roles in the household.  We have seen the domestic and caregiving duties fall straight back onto the shoulders of the girls.  The real threat here is regarding the girls who are orphans and semi-orphans because their stepparents or grandparents will not enroll these girl children in schools.

We would appreciate your generous donations we were able to reach so many that has impacted households.  Thank you for being a ray of hope in the lives of these downtrodden children.

Stay tuned for news about our next wave of innovative support in the coming months to come.  In the meantime, know that your steadfast support is bringing hope to hundreds of families and children at a dark time, and allowing us to stand together with them to fight this global crisis.  Thank you.  We could not do what we do without your support.

Thanking you,

With best wishes and fond regards,
