Dear Esteemed Patrons,
Greetings to you from Health Education Adoption Rehabilitation Development Society (HEARDS)!
HEARDS has been providing relief to the families most affected by the lockdown from day one. We have distributed family Survival Kits to our target 150 children families in slums and villages, and many households that are more individual from where the identified need is high.
HEARDS response towards the spread of COVID-19 has been developed to keep away from community transmission of this disease and save as many lives as possible. One such response action has been training all the children to take precautions to wash their hands repeatedly with soap and to maintain social distancing. They are also being trained to upcycle old cotton clothes and make them into handkerchiefs. Old cotton clothes are cleaned and then fashioned into handkerchiefs for the people to reuse. These pieces of training are being conducted for all children at our HEARDS target villages to reach maximum people.
These kids, from ages 6-14 years studying at HEARDS rehabilitation centre, are now spearheading the campaign against the spread of this disease within their own communities and families and making sure that people avoid crowded places as much as they can, and to maintain basic hygiene as much as possible. The children are also holding demonstrations within their communities, with not more than 10 people in total, and are depicting the correct way to wash hands during these times.
This project has its origin in the ‘highly felt-need’ of the target group and it is the right time wherein our intervention will encourage the “vulnerable” to participate, acquire proper recognition from the society.
Please continuously support us during these difficult times.
Thanking you,
With best wishes and fond regards,
