Dear Esteemed Patrons,

Season Greetings to you from Health Education Adoption Rehabilitation Development Society (HARDS) Board Members, Staff and children. We all wish you a Very Happy and Prosperous New Year 2020!

The year 2019 was a very good year for HEARDS because of lots of achievement towards rehabilitation of the child laborers has been happened. Like many girls who have regained their lost childhood, Deepa (Name changed) was also one among them.

Deepa (Name changed) is a 11 years old girl lives in Bharath Nagar Colony a slum area in Chittoor. Her father Mr. krishna (Name changed) works as a street vendor and her mother works as a labour in construction site. Deepa (Name changed) works as a daily laborer with her mother in construction site. Together with her mother, she has financial responsibility for the family, since her father is addicted to country liquor.   Her work starts at 7 a.m and ends only at 6 p.m. and she has to work six days a week.   The job which she does is quite difficult, she says, because she has to carry bricks, cement and water at the construction site to second and third floor. Beyond that she has to work for long hours. Here the contractor at the construction site was rude and therefore the project coordinator approached the labor inspector seeking his help to remove Deepa from the slavery and finally we got released Deepa (Name changed) from the construction site and now she is happily coming to our rehabilitation centre. During the last 9 months as she is purely an illiterate our teachers find difficult to teach but with our activity based learning methodology she started coping up with our other children. We are quite confident that her educational standard will increase tremendously in the coming months. Now Deepa started aiming to become an Engineer and we are planning to mainstream Deepa in VIII Grade at the nearby Government High school.

Like Deepa there are many more children in our rehabilitation center who desperately need your support. I request you to please kindly share about this inevitable project on rehabilitation of child laborers to your friends and relatives. If you would like to donation to HEARDS please kindly find enclosed the details for your kind reference.
