Dear Esteemed Patrons,
Greetings to you from Health Education Adoption Rehabilitation Development Society(HEARDS) - India!
Firstly we would like to say that during this year 11 children has appeared for 10th SSC Grade Board exam. We would be honored to inform you that all the 11 children got passed with flying colors. All these 11 children were previously studied in HEARDS centre with the support of donors like Globalgiving donors like you.
HEARDS Child Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre seek to rescue children from the clutches of child labour employers, to rehabilitate and reintegrate the rescued children, to create awareness, to provide education programs for rehabilitation of child laborers. The project will bridge a gap in educational standards of these children with regular school going children for rescued children and once they improve their educational standards we will mainstream them into the regular Government schools. Our mission is to ensure the survival and welfare, quality education, quality health of children and the underprivileged in society.
HEARDS child labor rehabilitation center have now been running during this quarter and serve as a midway point for children to try ‘bridge’ their missed education so that they attain an academic level which corresponds to their grade so that after 1 to 3 years they can be placed into formal education. However, most importantly we seek to help children discover the enjoyment in learning and expanding their mind.
This report describes the work of HEARDS with child laborers and deprived children from urban and rural communities in an around the city of Chittoor. HEARDS stresses the importance of education and works closely with families to ensure that children in the programme attend school regularly so that they can aspire to better employment opportunities and break out of the cycle of poverty and exploitation.
“Education encompasses teaching and learning specific skills, and also something less tangible but more profound: the imparting of knowledge, positive judgment and well-developed wisdom. Education has as one of its fundamental aspects the imparting of culture from generation to generation. Education means 'to draw out', facilitating realisation of self-potential and latent talents of an individual.
With the objective of community development by providing education to the child laborers, the Child Labor Rehabilitation program is running successfully towards its objectives of this project. In this quarter the rehabilitation center came within the frame. Most of the necessary materials and inputs were given to the teachers for their best. Our Project Coordinator has visited the rehabilitation center regularly by our follow up and for giving support as per necessary.
Imparting education forms the major activity since the students are to compete with privileged students in their regular classes. Hence, our attention, from Monday to Saturday is paid in bringing out the academic Excellency of the participating students who are going to mainstream this year. They are clarifying their doubts from the teacher. Mathematics and English is the difficult subject for children, for which special focus has been given to all children to overcome the problems through coaching every day. Now the children’s performance is increasing day by day.
Thanking you,
With best wishes and fond regards,
