Padmapriya at a HEARDS activity
Padmapriya at a HEARDS activity

Dear Esteemed Patrons,

Greetings to you from Health Education Adoption Rehabilitation Development Society (HEARDS) - India!

Firstly let me thank all our donors because in this report I am going to share a very good news about one of our child by named Padmapriya who went to the SSC Board Exam and got 9.3 in her Board Exams.  After rehabilitation from HEARDS we have mainstreamed Padmapriya into B.S.Kannan Government High School.  It was exciting to share about Ms.Padmapriya is the topper in the school.  This was not the first time where HEARDS children stood first in school and even in the previous yeaer Board exam also Amrin Taj another girl with the same score of 9.3 stood first in the same school.  The record remains again and the Government school staff is thanking all the donors who contributed to HEARDS rehabilitation centre because without you we cannot make this possible.

Now I am giving a short description about Padmapriya.  We met Padmapriya in a worse condition that she and her sister Shruthi along with her mother were working in a highway hotel.  Padmapriya lost her father during her childhood days.  She shouldered the responsibility of the family along with her mother.  The condition of her family was horrible.  Here HEARDS staff take an initiative as they convinced Padmapriya's mother to send both of her children to HEARDS child labor rehabilitaiton centre.  After repetitive visits they were able to convince and brought both these children back to our rehabilitaiton centre.  Both these children were purely illiterate while joining the centre but due to painstaking effort of our staff the educational standards of both these children has become remarkable and apart from that they were quick learners.

Not only our staff has shown a way to the children but also they have taken initative to show alternative livelihood to Padmapriya's mother.  Our staff has joined Padmapriya's mother in Amaron Batteries and now earning a decent income has promised to continue educating her children as long as they can able to study.HEARDS holds monthly meetings for staff to openly discuss their progress, achievements and difficulties. Staffs then try to formulate new initiatives to overcome their problems or share new activities.  All the points that staff discussed are as ways in which would help them engage the children more and provide greater teaching quality.

Our rehabilitation centres teacher, animator and cook have succeeded in carrying out their entrusted responsibilities by control over quality aspects and monitoring overall development of children.  We the team of HEARDS staff, rehabilitation centre teachers, animators and children were expressed our gratitude to all the donors of GlobalGiving to HEARDS for your esteemed financial support. We also wish to convey our regards to involvement of all other stake holders for their support, suggestion, guidance and encouragement to make this program successful.
