Enhancing the survival prospects and promoting healthy development of children in the slums of Ahmedabad through improved caregiver practices and increased accessibility to 'Quality Health Care'.
To reduce the deaths of those under five years of age due to malnutrition, diarrhea, primary tuberculosis, malaria and measles which is found to be quite common in the slums of Ahmedabad city. The project will raise awareness levels of pregnant women and caregivers of the target beneficiaries regarding antenatal care, care of newborn/infants and early treatment of childhood illness, which is presently found to be quite low. An estimated 15000 beneficiaries would be covered by the program.
Health Education: Imparting health education to caregivers & key stakeholders in the community through individual meeting, Group education sessions, & use of mainstream media as well as folk media for mass outreach. Formation of Health Committees.
Increased knowledge among the caregivers regarding the care of infants/U5 & management of childhood illness would enhance the survival prospects & healthy development of target beneficiaries. Increased community participation would enable sustain.
