GlobeMed at Tufts is one of 56 chapters nationwide committed to health care and public health equity abroad. Our chapter is specifically partnered with PHASE Nepal, an NGO working to improve education, health, and livelihood opportunities for local communities in Nepal through a sustainable, self-empowerment grassroots framework. This year our focus is primarily on fundraising for the Child's Health Education Program, which seeks to promote healthy behaviors and hygiene practices by educating the youth population. Our project is currently being implemented in rural areas of Nepal that are normally very remote and have little access to quality health care and education opportunities. The fundraised money is used to support the training of teaching facilitators who are at the forefront of a reform movement to better the education and teaching systems in rural Nepal.
As the Spring 2016 semester rolls around, we currently stand at $12,762, which is 85% of our total fundraising goal of $15,000 for this academic year. We are $2,238 away from this total and we are projected to not only meet this goal but to also hopefully surpass it. We have collectively worked incredibly hard this past semester and we truly appreciate your contributions, the generosity of our donors, and the effort and time each of our chapter members have dedicated to GlobeMed at Tufts. We hope to continue our fundraising efforts through our partnership with you, and we thank you again for your support.
