This semester, GlobeMed at Tufts University is continuing our partnership with PHASE Nepal to support their efforts to break the cycle of poverty in rural Nepal. PHASE believes that poor health, low education levels, and poverty itself are all aspects of a cycle that prevents citizens from increasing their standard of living.
In the last few months, GlobeMed at Tufts has amped up our fundraising efforts on campus and online. We are amazed and inspired by the support received in response to these efforts. Your support has helped PHASE Nepal realize a Education Development Facilitator Program. Our GlobeMed chapter will now be able to cover the cost of salary, living expenses, and training of an education development facilitator as well as allocate funds for clubs and extracurricular activities in rural Nepali schools. While our fundraising goal for this school year has been met, we still strive to exceed our target. Thanks to your generosity, our organization can truly affect change by encouraging the development of better teaching practices in Nepali schools.
Moving forward, GlobeMed at Tufts is focusing on what we can do in our local community to effect change. We are currently organizing a panel to speak about voluntourism on campus in order to start a campus-wide discussion on the morality of different civic engagement practices abroad. We are also planning other on-campus fundraisers, such as Trivia Night to raise funds, and in-restaurant fundraising near the Tufts University campus.
We would be delighted to answer any questions you have about this project, GlobeMed or the global health equity movement in general.
