This year, GlobeMed at Tufts’s fundraising efforts will support the expansion of our partner PHASE Nepal’s Education Development program. This expansion will allow for the empowerment and education of students living in rural Nepali communities. Through your generous donations, Nepali teachers will receive training from specialized teacher training programs that raise the standard of education in PHASE project areas.
Funding for this project will cover the cost of salary, living expenses, and training of facilitators as well as allocating funds for clubs and extracurricular activities where children discuss issues such as child’s rights and protection, youth empowerment and leadership, and health education. In order to continue this program we would like to raise $5,000 by January of 2015.
We observed the impact of your contributions this summer when interns from GlobeMed at Tufts visited Nepal to work with PHASE staff in project areas. Interns were impressed by the passion and selflessness of the staff and will continue to support their work through your donations, as well as fundraising events on the Tufts campus. One of these campus events included our successful Trivia Night with fellow peers, which ended up raising $377 for PHASE Nepal.
On a local level, GlobeMed at Tufts has been working in the Massachusetts area to promote health equity. Recently, we joined other local health advocacy clubs, such as MassCare, to support health equity at the Rally for the Right to Health. We rallied in an attempt to promote the importance of single-payer health care and the Ebola epidemic in the gubernatorial election in November, 2014. This work aligns with GlobeMed’s mission statement by strengthening the movement for global health equity on a local and global level through education.
GlobeMed at Tufts would like to thank all of the generous donors who have contributed towards the funding of PHASE Nepal’s Education Development program. Any form of donation is greatly appreciated, through either the one time gift or monthly recurring commitment. With your help, we can truly make a difference in encouraging the development of healthy behaviors for children living in Nepal.
In addition to fundraising efforts, our organization is grateful to all the donors that have helped spread the word about our current project. Campaigning efforts are just as important as fundraising efforts in supporting the movement for global health equality. We would love to hear more ideas from current and future contributors about the ways of gaining wider support for this program! Feel free to contact us if you have any questions this project, our organization or the global health equity movement.
Best regards,
GlobeMed at Tufts
