Pertiwi 1 Kindergarten, in Penadaran Village – Central Java, Indonesia has received enough funding for it to start construction process. Currently the school holds 51 children with insufficient classes and poor physical condition.Your donation will help these children gain a proper access to a child friendly school, providing the new school with two new classrooms, a teacher’s room, separate toilet, a pantry and a playground. These facilities will also be equipped with Green Features, which include water absorbent holes, herb corner, vertical garden and rainwater reservoir.

On the 11th July 2018 the Village Community started its first construction initiation by holding a traditional ceremony to mark the first stone placed in the construction sight. The construction phase will last for 20 weeks and by the end of it, we will hand the school back to the Village and conduct a Monitoring and Evaluation 6 and 12 months after. This Phase is important to ensure the school community and children understand how to maintain the school.

As of September 2018 the construction phase has reached another milestone by having the roof lifted up. The Village Community gathered at the school and marks this milestone by having a meal together with the labor worker and together praying for their safety throughout the rest of the construction process.

In Indonesian villages, it is common for a public space such as school to be used by the Village Community as playgrounds for other small children, or meeting place for the village women or other community purposes. We thank each of our donors who participated on this project, the school will not only benefit the children enrolled this year but for many years to come and also the growing community village.
