Relief and rehabilitation support is required for 3000 children and their families who live in the slums of Chennai and have been affected by recent catastrophic flooding. This project will provide clothing, learning materials, health care, recreational activities and psycho-social counselling for 3000 children, and livelihood support for their mothers. Special care will be provided for the needs of affected adolescent girls, providing sanitary napkins and supplementary educational support
December 2015 hosted one of the worst disasters Chennai has seen, with record rainfalls leading to widespread flooding. Over 300 lives have been lost and thousands more remain affected their homes were marooned and their livelihood sources snatched. 15000 families from our working slums have lost all their belongings like huts, dress, cooking vessels, the worst affected are the children and women. 30,000 Children lost their dresses books notes they are also panicked and psychologically affected
We will provide children, relief materials like dresses, notebooks and also provide health care services, psycho-social counseling and recreational activities like games, drawing, paintings, songs, dance, and drama, to help them forget and come out of the nightmare. Special care will be given for the needs of adolescent girls like providing sanitary napkins and supplementary education support. We work with mothers to strengthen their livelihood sources and to get all the government support
3000 children and their families will get immediate relief material and rehabilitation support to rebuild their lives. The livelihood sources of 2000 women will be strengthened. Adolescent girls health condition will improve, with the support they can continue their education and will not drop out from schools. By involving in the process of rebuilding the confidence of women and adolescent girls will improve. The health of 3000 children and their families will be improved.
