Thank you for supporting charity: water! Our mission is to bring clean and safe drinking water to every person on the planet, and we're so glad you've joined us.
Right now, you're helping to support our general water fund. For these gifts, we don't assign the funds to a specific project since construction in developing countries means dealing with many tricky variables -- supply price fluctuation, change of plans due to drills that don’t reach water, and other unpredictable challenges.
General water gifts allow us to remain efficient and flexible during the implementation process, so we can use your funds where they're really needed. Rest assured, 100% of the money received will help fund water project costs in one of the countries we work in!
One of the countries your gift could go to is Ethiopia. In the last few decades, Ethiopia has faced fierce famine, drought, political instability and war. Peace has returned but the nation remains developmentally weak and more than 50 million Ethiopians don't have access to safe water. Most rural families survive on less than five liters of water per day and walk up to four hours to collect it from open sources.
charity: water started working in Ethiopia in 2007. Since then, we've invested over $42 million in 5,064 projects that will bring 1,698,017 people clean water. And we want to show you exectly what that looks like.
The Journey is a video series that will take you to Ethiopia to see charity: water's work in the field. You'll join our Content Strategist, Tyler, as he experiences life without water and meets the incredible people of Ethiopia.
We can't wait to show you the kind of impact you're making!
