Music impacts the human being in a comprehensive way: biologically, physically, neurologically, psychologically, socially, and spiritually. It is used to achieve various therapeutic goals, establishing an alternative channel of communication and expression. It facilitates and promotes communication, learning, mobilization, expression, organization, among other relevant objectives, to meet the needs of children. This is why music is incorporated into therapies.
Camila, a 3-year-old girl, is active, cheerful, and curious. Her diagnosis includes epilepsy and psychomotor development delay, with a presumptive diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). From the beginning of her therapy, the main objective was to stimulate her language, recognition and expression of emotions, communication, and improve her social skills through music.
Thanks to the work program, Camila has managed to release her emotions, increase her attention and concentration, stimulate her communicative skills, and develop social skills and integration with her environment. All of this is achieved through movements, songs, instruments, and rhythmic activities.
In addition, Camila's parents are participative and proactive. They provide support to Camila at home with assigned tasks, create support materials, and replicate what is learned in each session. Their commitment significantly contributes to Camila's progress in the music therapy program.
