One of the most important activities of Wasi Esperanza is helping families with orthopedic materials for their children. In the month of January we managed to give a new neurological wheelchairs to Luna, who is a 14-year-old adolescent with cerebral palsy and epilepsy. Luna has grown so much that her wheelchair was no longer suitable for her and thanks to a donation from the city of Halle in Belgium we were able to buy her a new one. Luna's mother was very happy because she could now move her to places near her house. Unfortunately, most of the streets in the city of Ayacucho are not accessible to people who use wheelchairs.
Luna's mother is called Sofia and she is 27 years old, she is a single mother, currently studying at the National University of Ayacucho. She is always with Luna because she depends on her mom to eat, get around and more. Fortunately, she receives support from some of her siblings, but she also looks for strategies: like taking care of children in the houses of some relatives, taking care of the houses of families that travel and anything else she can do together with Luna, all this in order to get something more money and save what his brothers give him.
All this situation has generated in Sofia depression with which she has been struggling for years, thanks to the psychology service, she can receive treatment to cope with her situation and every day she strives to do the best for Luna and for her.
