The third term of the 2025 academic year began on August 25th and concluded on October 23rd, bringing the school year to a close. To mark this important milestone, we held both a graduation ceremony and a Christmas concert, where students, teachers, and families gathered to give thanks for the blessings of the past year.
Following the year’s end, Grade 6, Form 4, and Form 6 students will sit for the national standardized examinations. Senior high students face a particularly demanding schedule, with tests spanning four weeks and covering one or two subjects each day. Our candidates are preparing with great dedication, despite the pressure they feel.
A New Stage for Creativity
Half of the new multipurpose hall has been completed. On July 30th, at the close of the second term, the hall was inaugurated with a school-wide Drama Festival. Every student—from kindergarteners to high school seniors—had the chance to take the stage, acting, singing, and dancing.
The event revealed hidden talents and gave many newcomers the opportunity to build confidence through performance. Thanks to the hall, stage preparation and rehearsals began earlier than in previous years, and on the day of the event, students and parents alike were able to enjoy the program in comfort and without distraction.
Gifts of Music from Japan
Early September also brought great joy as the shipment of wind instruments, collected in Japan, safely arrived at the school. After being transported by ship and then delivered by container to Nairobi, the instruments were received with celebration.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who donated instruments and to those who handled the shipping process. These contributions will enrich the lives of our students and allow the school’s music program to grow.
Serving the Community of Mai Mahiu
Koinonia continues to live out its mission of service to the community. For the third consecutive year, students from primary through high school joined their teachers to clean the town center of Mai Mahiu.
This year, the school invited local businesses—including supermarkets, banks, and restaurants—to join the initiative. While these organizations did not participate directly in the cleanup, many became sponsors by donating masks, gloves, and financial support.
Mai Mahiu is steadily expanding, and we are hopeful that it will continue to grow as a community where people work together for the common good.
