Rachana - From Shy to Confident, Thanks to You!

Thanks to your donation to ISF Cambodia we are able to provide quality education and support to children living in poverty, helping them to create a brighter future for themselves.

Just like Rachana* a ten-year-old girl who has been studying with us since 2022.

Growing up in one of Phnom Penh’s poorest communities, Rachana, a shy eight-year-old, had never attended school before. Given this start to life, Rachana was on course to follow in her family’s footsteps, and a future fighting to survive was in store for her.

However, Rachana’s family was introduced to ISF Cambodia through community outreach efforts and recommendations from her neighbours. Shortly after meeting our team, Rachana started in grade one. Our education team provided her with everything she needed to study, as well as daily meals, healthcare and food parcels for her family. However, the impact extended far beyond tangible support.

Engaging and dedicated teachers created an inspiring learning environment, igniting Rachana’s passion for education. She excelled academically, ranking among the top two students in her class.

With time, Rachana went from being shy and apprehensive to beaming with confidence and self-esteem. The supportive environment cultivated by ISF enabled her to form meaningful friendships and interact comfortably with teachers.

Today, Rachana takes pride in her personal growth and academic accomplishments. Rachana's favourite subject, Khmer, has strengthened her reading and writing skills, sparking a deep passion for the language. Rachana also finds joy in Khmer dance, physical education, and exploring the library – all activities that bring happiness and alleviate daily life's pressures.

Rachana aspires to become a nurse in the future. She dreams of helping underprivileged children like herself by providing essential medical care and creating opportunities for a brighter future.

Your commitment to education has paved the way for a better life for Rachana and the 700+ students like her. Through your support, Rachana experienced academic growth and gained confidence, self-esteem, and a sense of purpose.

Thank You
