A new publication by Vincent Nijman and Chris R. Shepherd reveals a worrying rise in illegal trade, particularly in Indonesia, including seizures, prosecutions, and online sales, while highlighting a growing presence of the species in zoos across Asia (Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, China and Japan).
Drawing on 25 years of data, this comprehensive review urges urgent action to protect one of Southeast Asia’s most iconic primates.
