The exploitation of birds for commercial trade is one of the greatest threats to an ever-increasing number of species around the world, particularly in Asia.
Much of this trade is illegal, unregulated, and/or unsustainable and is a major cause of Southeast Asia’s bird declines and extinctions.
And the situation is even more precarious for lesser-known species.
We just published a new paper after taking a closer look at online bird trade in Vietnam. In the paper, we discuss how in less than a month, we recorded 834 individuals of at least 50 species, 92% of which were native to Vietnam.
We are witnessing the Asian songbird crisis. We must act, and with your support, we can.
