Project Report | Jan 28, 2026
Community Giving & Ongoing Fundraising Initiative

By Giselle Bonilla | Project Leader

Centro Bonilla is grateful to share an update on our community giving efforts and fundraising progress. Building on the success of our previous initiatives, we have continued to center care, generosity, and collective support across our communities.

In March 2025, Centro Bonilla successfully organized a clothes and toys drive in collaboration with the Boston-based nonprofit Time of Butterflies. Together, we surpassed our goal by collecting over 500 items, including clothing and toys for children and families in need. This effort was made possible through the generosity of our supporters and the strength of our community, and it allowed us to give back in meaningful and tangible ways.

Since then, Centro Bonilla has continued to fundraise and collect donations of toys and clothing from our communities in both Boston, MA and the Dominican Republic. Based on the consistent support and ongoing need we are witnessing, we have established a new goal to maintain an ongoing fundraiser throughout the year. This will allow us to respond more effectively to community needs as they arise and ensure sustained access to essential items for families.

In addition to our fundraising efforts, we have been working closely with women volunteers from our community in Jayaco to organize two upcoming community events this year focused on giving, healing, and connection. These events, scheduled for September 2026, will include the distribution of donated items as well as a sound bath and an expressive arts activity centered on love, care, and collective well-being.

We are also planning a “Tres Reyes” giving initiative, which will be a yearly act for December 2026. Through this activity, donated toys will be gifted to families in need, supporting parents and caregivers in providing Christmas gifts for their children during the holiday season.

Centro Bonilla remains deeply thankful for the continuous support we receive from our donors, partners, and community members. The generosity shown through these donations and contributions has been a true blessing, strengthening our ability to serve with dignity, compassion, and care. We look forward to continuing this work together and sustaining our impact throughout the year.
