Greetings and meows from Gili Trawangan, Indonesia! Our little island is getting very busy, the tourist high season is here and hotels are full, our streets are busy and it will be like this for the next couple of weeks!
Since our last report, we’ve been through a lot. We had another spay&neuter-clinic, we had our first ever goat clinic, we’ve started two new projects and we’ve taken a little break too. Read on and we will tell you all!
June cat clinic and our first goat clinic
We organized another free cat clinic at the end of June. We had several cats in our care who were ready for spay/neuter, plus many local people were waiting for our vet Rini to come visit again. We also desperately needed our two male goats neutered, so we had to organize a clinic for goats too!
We did one day clinic only, but is was pretty busy! In total 34 cats visited our vets and of those 23 cats were spayed or neutered. More than half were females.
After the cat clinic day, it was time for goats! Our two goat boys needed to get neutered so we could have them run free in the garden with the female goats.
For the goats we needed a bit help, so we reached out to Dr.Charlie, who has been visiting the island for horses for many years. Vet Charlie knows goats too, and was more than happy to use this opportunity to teach our cat vets, plus several local vet students, about goats. It was a crazy day! Our Grumpy Old Cat lady’s garden was full of people, vets and vet students, and a few volunteers.
Goat boys Antti and Sami lost their cojones, they recovered super well and have been happily running free in the garden with the ladies for about a month now.
We will organize one more cat clinic this year, most likely in November. For goats, we will organize vet visits if there’s need.

Our new project Goats Of Gili
In our previous report we told all about how we ended up with a group of goats last February. The goats have been so much work it has been absolutely insane. And not only the amount of work, but it also costs money making sure they have everything they need. So we made it official and started Goats Of Gili –project, opened their own fundraising campaign in GlobalGiving, made a website and opened Instagram for all goat action too.
From now on we will keep cat reports for cats, and we will report goat news on our goat project. The first ever goat report will be published in August.

Food waste project QuackQuackBaaa
Closely related to our goats is our second new project, named QuackQuackBaaa. This is a food waste project, where our rescued animals eat away food waste from a couple of island resorts and restaurants. This is a win-win-situation: our goats, chickens and ducks get free food, and the resorts and restaurants get some of their organic waste recycled in the best possible way.

SUMMARY OF THE FIRST HALF OF 2026 (January-june)
- We’ve had 65 cats and kittens in our care (during January-June)
- We organized two free cat clinics, one in January and another one in June, and in total we spayed and neutered 66 cats in those clinics.
- We received 8 very sick and malnourished goats in the beginning of February. All goats are doing great now, even the weakest ones are back on their feet. We already had 2 goats before this, so now we have 10 goats in total.
- We had our first ever goat clinic at the end of June and our two goat boys were neutered at the clinic
- We started 2 new projects: Goats Of Gili to support our rescued goats and QuackQuackBaaa for our rescued animals helping with food waste.
- We had to close our little shop for two weeks in June, simply because we had to have a break. It's been an insane year and we still have no full time staff to help out with the work load.
PLANS FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR:
One more free cat clinic
We will organize one more cat clinic this year, most likely in November.
Cat rescue work continues, and we welcome other animals too
We continue looking after cats and kittens that are brought to us, and we never turn away a cat in need of help. Cat rescue work is the core of what we have been doing since 2013 when we started, and it still is what we are and what we do. Everything else (our little charity shop and flea market) is just to support our work with catsand other animals.
And we will continue helping other animals too, the best we can. We currently have goats, chickens, ducks and pigeons in our care. We love all animals!
