COMERES Cassava Farming and Smart Sustainable Agriculture Project Report

Community Echoe Responder (COMERES) developed the Cassava Farming and Smart Sustainable Agriculture Project to address food insecurity, poor soil fertility, climate change effects, unemployment, and agricultural waste in rural communities.

The project promotes climate-smart farming by training farmers in organic composting, soil health management, water conservation, and eco-friendly pest control methods. These practices help improve cassava yields, restore soil fertility, and reduce dependence on harmful chemicals.

COMERES also strengthens the cassava value chain by processing cassava into garri, cassava flour, and water fufu. Cassava peelings are recycled into organic fertilizer and animal feed, reducing waste while creating additional income opportunities for farmers and local communities.

The project mainly benefits smallholder farmers, women, youth, and vulnerable populations by providing agricultural training, employment opportunities, and sustainable sources of income.

Through sustainable farming, value addition, and waste recycling, the COMERES project contributes to food security, environmental protection, poverty reduction, and community development.
