Seven Weeks until AIDS Walk Portland!

By Angela Sanders | Grants Coordinator

It's less than two months until AIDS Walk Portland. (Remember, AIDS Walk is a new location and new date this year: Saturday, September 6th, at The Fields Park, NW 11th and Overton.) At Cascade AIDS Project, we're full steam ahead with plans to shake up the event and make it as fun--and productive--as ever! Here's just a sample of what we have planned:

  • Beer Garden at the Finish line donated by Ninkasi
  • Two live bands and a DJ
  • Emcees: Stacey Lynn from Live 95.5 and Matt Johnson from KATU news
  • Children’s activities and a playground
  • Dog park available so bring your well-behaved dogs
  • 2.4-mile walk through The Pearl, downtown, Old Town, and along the river

This will also be your opportunity to meet CAP's new Executive Director, Tyler TerMeer, and to rally to support our mission of preventing HIV infections, supporting and empowering people affected and infected with HIV/AIDS, and eliminating HIV/AIDS-related stigma.

Please come and join us! It will be a fun, heartening day as we join as a community to fight HIV/AIDS. I look forward to our next report, when we'll be able to tell you how much we raised and give you an idea of some of the amazing and effective programs it will support.

Thank you!
