We were able to raise $383,907 toward our 2018 goal of $400,000! Our top walker, Daniel Borgen, alone raised $12,611!
The walk had another successful year as thousands gathered at the Fields Park in Portland's Pearl District. There were games, music, bubbles, and balloons to kick off the festivities. CAP's Executive Directer, Tyler TerMeer, shared sentiments with the audience. City Councilman, Nick Fish, also spoke to the crowd about the importance of stigma reduction and vigilant focus on HIV in our changing world.
All in all, though the walk didn't hit its financial goal, we really consider this year to be a success. More people and teams showed up for the walk than in previous years. The sun was shining. Our walkers dismantled the efforts of a hateful group of protesters. Everyone left in good spirits!
