An unpaid carer is someone who looks after a family member, friend or neighbour who is unable to look after themselves. Carers can experience many challenges as a result of their caring role, e.g. Long hours: most new carers who approach Carers Network provide 50+ hours of care per week. Loneliness: 8 out of 10 carers have felt lonely or isolated (Carers UK). Financial strain: 2 in 5 carers who have been caring 15 years or more may struggle to pay their bills.
