Jovial Futures is the only all inclusive, career focused mentor program serving our local schools! We meet weekly to discover student passions, build their resumes with community service projects, provide them with homework help, and essential organizational skills. We meet state standards by inviting professionals from all fields to speak with our students. Our students attend classes and are teamed with a professional mentor who can support them into college or a career.
While Colorado ranks near the top in the number of residents with a college degree, it comes in nearly last in number of students who complete college. 25% of Colorado high school students will not finish on time and each year about 15,000 will drop out. Youth who do not achieve a bachelors degree will make $36k less per year than those who did. Drop-outs are twice as likely to be incarcerated or live in poverty. The average drop-out costs taxpayers $292,000 in their lifetime.
Jovial Futures provides 7-12th grade students with all the skills and experience necessary to transition from high school into college or a career. We provide academic support, professional mentoring, internships, college application and scholarship assistance, job placement with local businesses, team building, and community service projects.
By removing financial barriers, providing youth with more opportunities, and creating community support systems- our program will help close the gap that keeps Colorado from growing its own professional talent! Investing in our youth, now, will save us millions of dollars down the road, while creating powerful, community driven, young leaders for our next generation.
