PROGRESS REPORT MONTHS OF OCT,NOV,DECEMBER 2013

By ANGELINA OKWEYA NANDWA | PROJECT LEADER

DAY CARE  SECTION;

The months of October, November and December were very difficult months as we had teachers strickes country-wide and therefore, mojority of the parents deceided to keep the  babies at home with their elder sibling to avoid paying for day care services for those three months.

That made it very difficult for the management to afford paying the three care givers their monthlyu allowances for the three months as whatever was paid by the few children who remained at the day care could not be enough to pay the three care givers,their allowances, forcing us to carry forward  their three months allowances to january 2014.

KINDERGATEN SECTION:

The same was affected by early school closer as they so their peers from public school at home and therefore they also cried to stay at home forcing us to have our usual end year graduation for them in the month of november instead of our usual month of december.

We were also not able to have our usual chrismas party and present giving before they went for their december holiday.

CHALLENGES:

1.We continue experiencing financial problems dispite the little fees we charge at list to enable us pay some allowances to the 3 caregivers and the 2 kindergated teachers who are also young single mothers with responsibilities.

2.Another challenge is for us not being able to fundraise on line as we have exosted the few friends we have in foreigne countries.

3. We have tried to register for the online fundraising trainings offered by globalgiving but unfortunately every time the session is on their is no network making it difficult for us to participate in the training due due internet problems.

4. Majority of the mothers who use our day care/kindergaten services are single adolescent mothers whoare either street hawkers or working in the export promotion zone factory were they earn very little and sometimes they work for only two weeks a month,yet they have rent to pay, food etc forcing their children to be in and out of day careor kindergaten.

LIFE SKILL FOR YOUNG MOTHERS PROJECT:

The young mothers project continued up to middle of december but it was very unfortunate that we were not able to registeres the 10 girls for the yearly government grade test as they had not paid their monthy tutition as well as for their government grade test.

CHALLENGES:

Their tution fees has not been reliable for paying the course instructor her monthly allowances as they come from very needy  families, forcing us to just organize internal exams for them for their graduation ceremony.
