Challenge

There are currently more than 500 protesters arrested and more than 70 death recorded just within 72 hours that the official results of the presidential elections of October 12 in Cameroon were proclaimed by the Constitutional Council, in Favor of outgoing President Paul Biya which did not reflect the truth of the ballot box. The Cameroonian people denounced massive electoral fraud, manipulation of polling station results and requested that the truth of the ballot box must be respected.

Solution

The project will provide compassion and psycho-social support to families who have lost their love ones, and provide legal support to ensure unconditional release of all those who are detained in connection to post-elections protest across all the major cities of Cameroon. The people's crime is demanding for justice by denouncing electoral fraud, manipulations and falsifications of polling stations tallies to favor the current regime in power.

Long-Term Impact

The project will free over 500 protesters who are currently in detention, allowing them to reunite with their families and friends. Over 70 families who lost their love ones will be visited to show love and compassion, relieving them of the pains. Peaceful demonstration will be encouraged and the will of the Cameroonian people respected, allowing for a peaceful and democratic transition of power legitimately delegated by the people for change.
