Build Capacities of 400 Deprived Girls in Gujarat

As part of building capacities of adolescent girls and young women at the community level, AWAG organised awareness meetings for them in their areas at Ahmedabad.

A total of 106 young women showed their active participation. The meetings created awareness about:

• Women’s independence, individuality, existence and need for social justice
• Awareness on gender violence, self-growth and dignity
• Understand and recognize various forms of exploitation and violence inflicted on women
• Seek help to raise a voice against it

Through discussions and games the participants were directed towards understanding gender abuse and means to overcome it by recognizing their identity and potential, and move towards social and economic empowerment through savings. 

The participants gained information about gender inequality that leads to violence on women. They were informed about reaching out to AWAG when in distress. At the end of the meeting, the women expressed that they were now better informed and will put their learning to effect.
