2nd Quarter 2022 Report

By National Development Team - Canine Companions | National Development TEam

2020 was a year none of us will forget, filled with previously unimaginable challenges. Even with our campuses closed, Canine Companions® dogs trained in the homes of staff for several months, we hosted socially-distanced Team Training classes, and we graduated an incredible 362 teams nationwide – just five fewer than 2019.

In 2021 we continued to place service dogs across the country, with over 370 placements over the course of the year. For Canine Companions, the difficulties of the pandemic have served as lessons that have made us stronger. We utilized this time to undergo a brand and messaging refresh so Canine Companions can continue into the future, stepping more fully into our role as the leader in the service dog industry.

After over a year and a half, Canine Companions has reopened its doors to volunteers. Our community is the heart of Canine Companions, and it has been uplifting to see our community again, more resilient than ever.

Since our founding in 1975 we've placed over 7,000 service dogs. More than 500 people await the call that tells them we have a space for them in Team Training and service dog for them that will open doors to new opportunities.

We are grateful for all you do to support our employees, clients and each other. Together, we lead with independence so our clients can live life to the fullest.
