In 2015, Canine Companions is celebrating 40 years of providing highly trained assistance dogs to adults, veterans and children with disabilities. In our history, over 4,700 assistance dogs have been placed free of charge. Today, there are 2,000 active graduate teams.
With the graduation of five May Team Training classes, the number of assistance dog placements in 2015 now totals over 100. We have several more Team Training classes and graduation ceremonies scheduled through the year. Graduation ceremonies for the remainder of the year will take place in Santa Rosa, California, Oceanside, California, Irving, Texas, Delaware, Ohio, Medford, New York, and Orlando, Florida. For a schedule of upcoming graduation ceremonies, please visit us at cci.org.
The support provided to Canine Companions for Independence through the Canine Companions Assistance Dog Team Sponsorship makes a difference for people like Bari. She is a four-time graduate, and recently shared "Having a dog by my side makes me feel I can do anything."
We hope you'll visit one of our centers around the country and learn more about us first-hand and how with your help we make a difference in the lives of people with disabilities.
