For the period of July - September 2017, we conducted 88 cancer awareness and screening camps.
Provided cancer awareness to 7440 persons and screened 1749 persons for oral, breast and cervical cancers.
We initiated a "Train the Trainer" program to provide cancer awareness to the field staff of several local NGO's. The training was given by Dr.Vidhubala, Prof. & Dean (Research) Indian Institute of Sports Medicine, and By Dr.Aruna Chandra Sekaran, Medical Director, Nellai Cancer Care centre.
Dr.Vidhubala also conducted a workshop on effective counselling to all our staff at Nellai Cancer Care on 21st August 2017.
These programs are part of our continuing efforts to enhance and grow of centre of excellence. They enable our staff to act with empathy, understand our patients and provide them appropriate counselling.
A team of 5 medical students from the University of Michigan visited Nellai cancer Care Centre and interacted with our staff nurses, lab Technicians and doctors. They also attended a cancer screening camp in Alangulam as part of their study on "Knowledge about Pap smear test among rural people"
