1. World Cancer Day 2017 Date: Friday, February 03, 2017 Cancer Awareness Rally at Tirunelveli inaugurated by Prof. Dr. K. Baskar, Vice-Chancellor, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University. 1200 students from 9 colleges participated.

The cancer awareness rally was organized to mark the world cancer day (4th Feb 2017). Students started assembling from 10.30 onwards in front of the Nellai Cancer Centre. Volunteers from the parent Udhavum Ullangal Public Charitable Trust met the assembled students in groups and exhorted them the importance of their role in spreading awareness on cancer among their friends and relatives. Prof. Dr .K. Baskar, Vice-Chancellor, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University who graced the occasion, told that he would initiate steps to ban sale of tobacco in the vicinity of educational campuses, before flagging of the rally.
2. Cancer Awareness Program
Dr. S. Manimegala and Dr. M. Abirami of NCCC conducted a session on cancer awareness for the girl students of Sadakathullah Appa College, Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli. 350 students attended the program.
3. NGOs Meet
On account of World cancer Day 2017, NGOs meet was conducted at Aryaas Hotel on 3rd Feb 2017 to discuss about effective cancer control program and joint coordination.
4. Cancer awareness & screening program conducted in MS University during NSS Coordinators Training program on 30th Jan 2017 in which 100 Trainers attended and 37 screened for cancer.
5. Dr .Rajan Dewar, Asst. Prof. of Pathology & Director, Hematology, University of Michigan Visited Nellai Cancer Care centres on 3rd December 2016 and interacted with our Team. He appreciated the work done by the Lab technicians and trainees in quality pap smear screening under the leadership of Dr. Gita Jayaram. Thanks to Dr. Rajan Dewar and their Team of Indian Pathologist in North America for their support to our LAB.
