For Cancer Control program as per WHO, Awareness to community is very important and which will turn into successful screening and early detection.
INS Kattabomman in association with Nellai Cancer Society and Grama Udayam, conducted a Cancer Screening camp at the Unit MI Room on 03 and 04 May 2018. 110 personnel including locals underwent detailed tests and examination during the camp, wherein screening was conducted for Cervix, Breast and Oral cancers. In addition, cancer awareness workshop for all residents of the establishment was also conducted. The Navy Wives' Welfare Association, Kattabomman provided support and encouragement to the ladies during the camp and presented saplings of fruit bearing trees to all participants to promote green initiative.
Mukkudal is famous for Beedi rolling and the birth place for T.P.Chokalal Ramsait Beedi company. Cancer Awareness & screening camp and World No Tobacco awareness convention and oath taking conducted in Mukkudal on sunday 27th May 2018. We have started alternative employment training to Beedi workers through Grama Udhayam. Thanks to Grama Udhayam for their support.
