Dear supporters, partners, friends,

This summer Somchhai and Sreyphim completed their college studies and took their final exams. They have already begun working in jobs they found thanks to their education. Reaching this point is a remarkable accomplishment.

Somchhai was determined to pursue a degree in English Literature. She studied four years at the National University of Battambang. She loves books and is an avid reader. Besides speaking Khmer and English, Somchhai is fluent in Thai. While studying at college she worked as an online Thai language teacher. During college, she lived in our dormitory in Battambang where she found community, friends and encouragement.

Now Somchhai is working as an English teacher at a private school in Battambang. “I am really happy to be working there.”

Somchhai joined our program in 2023. She was born in Thailand where her parents worked at the time. When she was 8 years old her mom passed away and she and her dad moved back to Cambodia to live with family members. Without the financial means to pursue higher education, Somchhai applied for a CVF scholarship. This gave her the opportunity to attend college and develop her potential. See her video message.

Sreyphim completed four years of study in Banking and Finance at the National University of Battambang. She found work at a modern manufacturing company near Phnom Penh where she currently applies her skills in the Production Maintenance Department. She is also taking Chinese language classes to further develop her skills.

“I am very happy with my degree. I think it definitely helped me when I applied for the job because it gave me the knowledge and skill needed.”

Sreyphim had started in our scholarship program in 2023. She is one of seven children. Her father is a farmer and her mom is a homemaker. During her studies she lived in our CVF dormitory where she found community and support. Watch her video message.

A college education opens doors to higher paying jobs, greater independence, and the opportunity to actively build a promising future. Now that students move from college into working life, we are beginning to see the results of our combined investments.

Thank you for investing in young people from rural, rice farming communities and believing in their potential. Your support has helped these students reach an important milestone.

Together we invest in people to give them a chance. Together we are the Cambodian Village Fund Family
