The 35 athletes of the ANZ Royal CNVLD Wheelie Grand Prix remain hard in training around Cambodia as they prepare for the 2010 National Championships in December.
The five ANZ Royal CNVLD Wheelie Grand Prix teams in Phnom Penh, Battambang, Kompong Speu and Kompong Chhnang have upped the ante in 2010, training every week as standards rapidly rise in the hope of being selected for future international races, with plans developing for the first ever international wheelchair race to be hosted in Phnom Penh.
Australian photographer James Lauritz, on assignment with Australian Business Volunteers (ABV), recently captured the Phnom Penh Racing Team coached reigning national champion and London 2012 Paralympic hopeful Van Vun in full flight while training in the centre of the capital.
Following his return from the Geelong Wheelchair Racing Camp earlier in the year, Van Vun established this new team whose youth, dedication and fitness have finessed into a tight knit squad whose training activities also include weekly swimming and gym work.
