About the new CNVLD: 2009 and forwards

About the new CNVLD: The CNVLD recognises the unique ability and power of team sports programs to assist the physical, physiological and socio-economic well being, of Cambodians with a disability and the landmine survivors of Cambodia, with a positive impact within the following key developmental areas: • Health + Physical Rehabilitation (through sport) of landmine survivors and the persons with a disability of Cambodia • Civil Society Development - Through the development of sporting clubs and team membership responsibility • Human Rights - Raising ongoing awareness of disability issues • Women’s Rights - focus program - “Women on the Move” to encourage the participation of women with a disability in sporting activities • Environment - The construction of multi purpose outdoor sports and recreational courts for usage by the broader community including environmentally sensitive landscaping and disability access • Employment Creation - Assistance in finding meaningful employment for the athletes of the CNVLD The CNVLD: • Providing an international standard high quality sports product • Providing an essential service for Cambodian Persons with a Disability Objectives: • Establishing Cambodia as the ASEAN Centre for Disability Sport • Achieving sustainability through Corporate Social Responsibility • Providing national and international disability awareness and education • Achieving complete localisation by 2012 Annual Program: • National Volleyball League • Cambodian National Volleyball Team • National Wheelchair Racing Program • National and International Exhibition Design • Education Program – Raising Awareness about Disability Issues Structure: • Established: 1999 • Cambodian NGO Registration No.153: 2004 • Australian Non-Profit: 2009 • MoU with Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation: 2006 CNVLD Patron: Samdech Akeamohaseney Decho Hun Sen – Since 1999 Staff: CNVLD Secretary General: Mr Christopher Minko (Australia) CNVLD International Board: • Ms. Mmaskepe Sejoe (Chair) (Australia) – Current Human Rights Commissioner Victoria Police – International Women’s Rights specialist • Mr. Dean Cleland (Executive Board Member) (Australia) - CEO ANZ Bank Asia • Mr. Peter Bartu phD.
