Summary

As COVID-19 spreads quickly in Cameroon, many people in the country are constantly living in fear and insecurity. With suboptimal health care conditions, the country may soon face terrible consequences. Our project - Cameroon Unites Against COVID-19 Project - will mainly take place in rural and urban areas across Northwest Cameroon, distributing educational materials (flyers, posters, T-shirts, posters) as well as personal protective equipment (soap, hand sanitizer, cloth mask) to 1,000 people.

Challenge

After thorough research with the help of 14 United Nations Online Volunteers, we discovered that situation in Cameroon requires emergency and proactive measures to resolve this current issue at hand. Cameroon is currently suffering from both socio-political tension induced by the Anglophone Crisis and the COVID-19 health pandemic. This double burden has led to fragmented health care system, suboptimal water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) Food insecurity and high rate of malnutrition.

Solution

COVID- 19 pandemic is a matter of life and death. Therefore, a quick response and coordinated approach are highly needed to save the lives of people in Cameroon during this turbulent time. Hence, we have come up with reasonable solutions to address the issues outlined above: distributing bar soaps, cloth masks, and hand sanitizers to protect people at risk and sharing reliable information through educational flyers, posters, street banners, and T- shirts via both offline and online platforms.

Long-Term Impact

Every soul deserves life and sound health. By donating to our project, you will help us in ensuring the following long-term impacts are secured: promote healthy lifestyle against COVID- 19 pandemic and future outbreaks, increase awareness of the symptom and preventive measures to be taken, protect and reduce the disease transmission via continuous learning process, and promote sustainable community development and peaceful co-existence within the region. Let's help save Cameroon together.
