California Wildfire Relief: Helping Children

by Jake's Diapers, Inc. Vetted since 2016 Top Ranked Effective Nonprofit

California Wildfires devastate communities and incur loss of human life. When we think about disaster response and recovery, we tend to think about hunger, homelessness, and clean water. Diapers are an overlooked, yet crucial, basic need. All babies deserve to be clean, dry, and healthy. This fund exists to serve communties hit by wildfire disaster in California, both in immediate and long term relief.

Active wildfires have caused mandatory evacuations, destroyed homes, and forced thousands to flee. These families are now staying in shelters, with friends & family, or have fled the area. Living in poverty, now amplified by wildfire devastation, means many families just trying to survive are forced to choose between food & diapers.

Through provision of reusable, modern cloth diapers basic hygiene and dignity will be restored for children and their caregivers.

Long-Term Impact

As our partner organizations in California continue to have their personal care needs solved, they are able to save funds and plan for future improvements in their care. This can mean adding educational programs, offering better healthcare, improved quality of food (more protein!) - all steps that set these children and their families up for long term survival and productive members of society.
