An update on your donation to the California Wildfire Relief Fund 2021

By Donna Callejon | Executive Lead of Disaster Recovery

Thank you for your generous donation to our 2021 California Wildfire Relief Fund. Since earlier this summer, donations from the Fund have supported emergency grants to high-impact and community-led nonprofit organizations helping their neighbors.

Here is what Logan from the North Valley Community Foundation wants you to tell you about the current situation in northern California:

Three of the most destructive fires in California history have hit our area in the past four years. Even in an area accustomed to wildfire, this is unprecedented territory. Every time we think we are making progress, a new fire has us starting over again. It's a long road to recovery and help from beyond our rural area is necessary and appreciated.”
- Logan Todd, North Valley Community Foundation

Here is a brief overview of the nonprofits that have received our first round of emergency grants:

  • The Plumas Crisis Intervention and Resource Community (PCIRC) is Plumas County’s leading nonprofit working to support people experiencing homelessness that were impacted by several fires, including the. Beckwourth andDixie fires. PCIRC is providing gift cards, grief counseling, and support accessing other services.
  • The North Valley Community Foundation is a long-time GlobalGiving partner that recently extended its reach beyond Butte County to assist harder-to-reach communities in the rural parts of adjacent counties, including in response to the Dixie Fire.
  • The Humboldt Area Foundation is supporting nonprofits providing direct services such as shelter, gift cards, food, and other resources to residents that have been impacted by a number of fires this year.
  • The Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation’s Emergency Response Fund is supporting nonprofits on the ground—particularly those who lost their homes and belongings in the Caldor Fire.

Your support of the GlobalGiving  2021 California Wildfire Relief Fund means local organizations like these get the critical resources they need to help their community recover.

With gratitude,

Donna + GlobalGiving Team

About GlobalGiving’s Disaster Response

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.

We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.

They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
