Sangeeta’s Journey Towards a Sustainable Livelihood:
Sangeeta is a farmer from Goregaon. She owned two goats but did not make enough revenue to make ends meet. Even after much care, the goats did not give birth to any kids and she had thus decided to sell off the goats.
However, her son heard of the Goat Paravet programme through a marketing pamphlet of the Mann Deshi B-school for rural women. She later called the foundation to avail more information regarding the same. She participated in the insemination programme of the goats and after 5 months, her goats gave birth to 3 kids. She then inseminated her second goat, who produced a female goat thereafter. After 4 months, the 3 goat kids were sold for 35,000 /- which greatly contributed to her income. She had never seen this inflow of revenue before.
She says, “I was able to earn additional income and learn about Artificial Insemination, thanks to the efforts of the Mann Deshi”.
