Fundacion en Movimiento works to eradicate bullying through the promotion of the Culture of Peace. It seeks to benefit 2 low-income schools in Mexico that suffer a high degree of bullying, fostering an environment of healthy coexistence, through strategies that promote respect, empathy and generosity. It will raise awareness among the entire school community of the importance that children studying feeling safe, heard and respected. The work includes students, teachers and parents.
Mexico ranks 1st in bullying, 7 out of 10 students a day suffer harassment, assaults, teasing, cruel treatment and injuries from which it is very difficult to recover. Some consequences of the lack of attention to the victims and aggressors causes personal affectations as low self-esteem, self-harm, dropping out of school or even reaching suicide; and also causes social affectations as hopelessness, lack of opportunities for aggressors, generate violent environments and increase crime levels.
This project reach 2 low-income schools located in the vulnerable area between Mexico City and the State of Mexico, where there's a population and a high level of crime, which is reflected in the coexistence of students within their schools. With the implementation of strategies to prevent and attend bullying, and foster the culture of peace, we get the school community (parents, teachers and students) to use values such as respect, empathy and generosity to be creators of a healthy coexistence.
We seek to stop violence from its first manifestations within schools and promote values in the early stages of life. Children who live in healthy environments will grow up to be healthy adults psychologically and emotionally. We want to implement an ideology where violence is not normal, the culture of peace is possible, as well as the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
