This project is designed to maintain and reduce dropping of orphaned and vulnerable children education with support of educational materials and school feeding for 120 poor vulnerable children and orphans. The initiative planned and started to build new primary school for the community nearby their location to reduce dropout and provide quality in education and develop two hand dug wells for water supply and sanitation and empower caregivers of OVC with livelihood opportunities.
More than 2000 households in the community are lacking access of public primary education nearby and walk long distance on foot. The distance and extremely poverty condition, lack of supporting families and lack of financing for life issues caused the challenges and drop out of school particularly the OVC. OVC in the community lack basic needs such as food, health care, shelter and education. In addition they are stigmatized and exposed to abuse and exploitation.
FGHVCO will construct school for local community nearby and free education and educational materials support for 120 OVC and poor under-privileged ones, provide lunch for 120 OVC in the school and development of hand dug well for water supply and sanitation. 100 local children will have discount payment and nearby access for primary education to reduce dropping and the capacity building for the local community for development and self supporting activities.
Fully furnished model primary school and future hope of the OVC will be encouraged. Education changes hope and create choices and opportunities for children, reducing poverty, disease and give them a voice in society. It increases workforce and contributing to incomes, enhancing political participation and reducing social inequality. For girls that are often less likely to attend school, the advantages not only affect their lives, but those of their children.
