Over the summer months, Give Chances has continued to nurture the growth of our Joyful Learning program in Kolkata, India. Building on the strong foundation established earlier this year, the program has flourished—bringing students not only essential English education but also a wide range of engaging, interactive learning opportunities. With your support, children are showing growing excitement for learning, strengthened confidence, and an eagerness to connect with their peers in new ways.
One of the highlights of this summer has been the successful implementation of STEM education into our curriculum. By introducing problem-solving activities, critical thinking exercises, and basic science concepts, we are expanding our students’ skill sets beyond language learning and helping them explore different pathways of curiosity and creativity.
Our English lessons also continue to thrive. Since April, we have successfully conducted 10 weekly online lessons as of August, maintaining consistent attendance and enthusiastic participation. Even though classes are held virtually via Zoom, students are actively engaging through bingo games, quizzes, videos, and interactive group exercises. These activities not only make lessons enjoyable but also allow students to apply what they’ve learned in real-time while fostering teamwork and collaboration.
This progress has been made possible thanks to our strong partnerships with local educators and community leaders in Kolkata, who have worked hand in hand with our team to adapt the Joyful Learning curriculum to meet the needs of our students. Their guidance and collaboration have ensured that classes remain effective, culturally relevant, and responsive to student needs.
We are deeply encouraged by the growth we have seen this summer. Our students are becoming more confident English speakers, more curious STEM learners, and more collaborative peers. None of this would have been possible without your generosity and belief in our mission. With your continued support, we look forward to building on this momentum and sharing more stories of progress and joy from India in the months ahead.
